  Breaking News!
Blaans Soon To Have The Audio New Testament
Now in week #2 of 6

... "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. How, then, can they call on the One they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the One of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!'"
(Romans 10:13-15 NIV)

Consider the verse above. In it we read the Biblical message is given by the voice of one preaching. Bible understanding is also acquired through reading. How do non-readers learn the Bible message, if there is no one to preach? "Beauty" in modern technology has the answer--tiny solar, battery, or crank powered audio players that are able to contain the entire New Testament.

Audio recording of the complete Koronadal Blaan New Testament is currently in progress going from mid-January to mid-March, 2010. This wonderful work is being done in Davao City, Philippines.

"For people in oral societies, dance, poetry, art, storytelling—even genealogies—are used to convey important messages. Knowledge is passed on through oral instruction and personal example. Many of these societies have no written language whatsoever. Or, in communities where a writing system is introduced, oral communication often persists as the most important, prevalent, and enjoyable way to exchange information. According to most recent estimates, oral societies make up about two–thirds of the world's population—and the vast majority of Bibleless people groups fall into this category"

"The leadership of the Evangelical Church of Guinea-Bissau has made it their responsibility to see Bible translation completed for every language in the country… JAARS is privileged and excited to partner with them."

The JAARS Wireless IT Dept., Leon's assignment, is a major player helping provide power and communications. They work with the local Bible translation teams to design solutions that will speed Bible translation efforts. (The article starts on page 10)

Wycliffe Bible Translators, USA
"Wycliffe USA, the world's largest Bible translation organization, is comprised of dozens of partnering organizations and more than 6,400 translators, linguists, aviators, humanitarian workers, educators and administrators. Founded in 1942, Wycliffe is an innovator in high-tech translation strategies. The organization is currently working with language communities in 93 countries on six continents to make the Bible and critical health and humanitarian materials accessible to all people in the language most meaningful to them. In November 2008, Wycliffe USA launched the Last Languages Campaign with the goal of starting a Bible translation program in every remaining language that needs one by 2025."
        Quote from Profiles Wycliffe USA

Wycliffe Family of Organizations
"Wycliffe is a family of more than 110 legally independent, separately-chartered organizations with their own boards of directors and headquarters, who are formally linked together by a common purpose (Bible translation) and share a number of interlocking, mutually-adopted methods and procedures.
"The final layer of complexity is that "Wycliffe" organizations also work directly and increasingly closely with other non-member organizations (both religious and secular) whose goals are either the same as ours or have major areas of similarity with ours."
